Suggesto imports your products in the background and creates your account. Nothing appears on your storefront until you add the quiz block yourself, so installing is safe to do before you have decided anything.

Do I need to add anything to my theme's code?

No. Everything is a theme app extension, which means Shopify injects it and removes it cleanly. Your theme files are never edited, and uninstalling leaves nothing behind in them.

What does the AI actually do?

Two jobs, both of which you start yourself and can edit afterwards. It drafts a whole quiz - questions, answers, and the tags connecting them - from your catalog. And it tags your products in bulk, so answers have something to match against. Every plan includes AI runs; how many depends on your plan.

Three to five questions. Long enough to narrow a catalog meaningfully, short enough that people finish. Drop-off analytics tell you where yours is losing shoppers, so you can shorten it with evidence rather than instinct.

Can questions depend on earlier answers?

Yes, in several ways. An answer can skip questions that no longer apply, reveal ones that only make sense now, or jump straight to a specific later question. A question can also be set to appear only when a particular earlier answer was chosen.

Can shoppers skip a question?

That is per question. Mark one optional and shoppers get a skip link; leave it required and they have to answer before continuing. Required is the default, since a skipped question is a question that cannot help the match.

Can shoppers pick more than one answer?

Yes. A question can be single-choice or multi-choice. On a multi-choice question every selected answer contributes to the match, so picking three things narrows differently than picking one.

Can I see the quiz before it goes live?

Yes, two ways. There is a live preview you can take yourself while building, and a flow map that draws every branch so you can check none of them dead-ends. You can also preview on your real storefront with a private link, and nothing you do in either is recorded as a real session.

Can I run more than one quiz?

Yes. Every paid plan includes unlimited quizzes, and the free plan includes one. Where each quiz appears is controlled per page in the theme editor.

What language will the quiz be in?

Whatever you write it in. If you use AI to draft a quiz, you can set a default language first and it drafts in that; ten are supported, including Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and the Nordic languages.

How does product matching work?

You tag each answer, and Suggesto scores every product in your catalog against the tags a shopper chose. Questions can carry different weights, so the ones that matter most count for more, and rarer tags count for more than tags half your catalog shares. Each result arrives with a match percentage and a one-line reason.

Do my products need tags already?

No. Matching works on tags, but you do not have to write them. One AI auto-tagging run covers your catalog, and any tags your products already carry are kept and counted first. You can add, edit, or remove tags on any product by hand at any time.

Do I have to pick the products for each answer by hand?

No, and that is the point of tagging rather than hand-picking. You tag an answer once, and every product carrying that tag becomes eligible, including products you add next month. Hand-picked lists go stale the moment your catalog changes.

What happens if a shopper's answers match nothing?

The quiz never dead-ends. Suggesto falls back to a set of products, ordered by what previous quiz-takers on your store actually added to cart and bought, and tells the shopper plainly that these are suggestions rather than matches.

Can I stop specific products being recommended?

Yes. On Growth and above you can exclude individual products from a quiz. On any plan you can hide anything out of stock, though leave that off if you sell digital or pre-order items, since those legitimately show zero inventory.

You choose, up to ten. The results screen leads with the best match and shows the rest as runners-up, so a shopper gets a clear answer rather than another grid to sort through.

Does adding products to my store break an existing quiz?

No. New products sync automatically and become eligible as soon as they carry tags your answers use, so a quiz you built in January keeps working on stock you added in June.

How do I add a quiz to my store?

In the Shopify theme editor, add the Suggesto Quiz block to whichever page you want it on, then pick your quiz from the dropdown. Pages that share a theme template share the block, so to run a different quiz on another page, give that page its own template and add a block there.

Will it match my store's design?

You control the quiz's accent colour, button labels and how many results it shows on every plan, plus the canvas width, height, component sizes and results columns from the theme editor. Custom colours for individual elements - headings, help text, answer text - are on Growth and above.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The quiz is responsive and sized for touch, and the theme editor lets you set the canvas separately from desktop. Most quiz traffic is mobile, so it is worth previewing there before you publish.

Will it slow my store down?

The storefront quiz is a self-contained bundle of about 24KB compressed, served from Shopify's own CDN with no third-party trackers. It renders in a few milliseconds and nothing about it blocks the rest of your page from loading.

Which email tools does it sync with?

Klaviyo, on Starter and above, with the quiz they took attached so you can segment on it. Captured shoppers are also created as Shopify customers, tagged the same way, so you can use them in Shopify's own marketing without a third-party tool. More integrations are on the way.

Do shoppers have to give an email to see results?

Only if you want them to. The email step is off by default, and when you turn it on you choose whether it comes before or after the results, and whether results are gated behind it at all. Gating lifts capture and costs completions, so it is worth trying both and reading the drop-off numbers.

Why do consenting shoppers show as 'never subscribed' in Klaviyo?

Almost always because the Klaviyo list is set to double opt-in, which is Klaviyo's default. On a double opt-in list, consent only registers once the shopper clicks the confirmation email Klaviyo sends. Suggesto shows you which mode your connected list is in so you are not left guessing.

Can I export the data?

Yes, as CSV, on Starter and above. That covers quiz sessions and their answers, so you can analyse them however you like or move them into a tool Suggesto does not integrate with yet.

Can I offer a discount on the results?

Yes, on Growth and above. You attach a reusable discount code to a quiz and Suggesto creates it in Shopify for you. Turn on the Suggesto auto-discount app embed in your theme and the code applies itself to the shopper's cart as soon as they add an item, so nobody has to type it in at checkout.

What analytics do I get?

Sessions started and completed, completion rate, average time to finish, emails captured, and drop-off for every individual question - which is the number that tells you what to cut. How far back you can look depends on your plan: 7 days on Free, 90 on Starter, all of it from Growth up.

Can I see which question loses the most shoppers?

Yes, and it is usually the most useful screen in the app. Drop-off is reported per question, so you can see exactly where people abandon rather than only that they did.

Can I see revenue from a quiz?

Not yet. Suggesto matches orders back to the quiz session that produced them, but showing those figures needs Shopify's protected customer data approval, which is granted at the app level rather than unlocked by a plan. Until that is approved the analytics page says so plainly instead of showing a number.

What counts as a session?

One shopper answering at least one question. Loading the page a quiz sits on costs nothing, and neither does a shopper who opens it and leaves without answering, so refreshes do not eat your allowance.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and it is a real plan rather than a timed trial: one quiz, 100 quiz sessions a month, and AI runs included. New stores also get a 14-day Growth trial, so you can try discounts, custom colours and full analytics history before deciding. Paid plans start at $29 a month and are billed through Shopify.

How does billing work?

Through Shopify. You approve the charge in your Shopify admin and it appears on your regular Shopify invoice, so there is no separate card to enter and no separate bill to reconcile.

What happens if I go over my session limit?

Nothing is charged automatically. The quiz stops starting new sessions for the rest of the month and shows a short 'temporarily unavailable' message instead, or sends shoppers to a page of your choosing if you set one. Anyone mid-quiz finishes normally, and upgrading restores it immediately.

Can I change plans later?

Any time, from inside the app. Upgrades take effect straight away. Downgrades take effect at your next billing date rather than immediately, so you keep what you have already paid for, and the app tells you exactly which features you will lose before you confirm.

What data does Suggesto collect from my shoppers?

Quiz answers and the recommendations they produced, and an email address only if a shopper types one in. No advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. Merchants remain the data controller for shopper data; the full detail, including the sub-processors involved, is in our privacy policy.

Do I need to update my store's privacy policy?

Almost certainly yes, and it is a short edit rather than a rewrite. Your store already collects personal data, so you already need a policy; running a quiz adds quiz answers, and an email address where a shopper gives one, to what you collect. Naming that, and naming Suggesto as a processor, is what keeps the policy accurate. Our own privacy policy sets out exactly what we process on your behalf so you can point at it.

Is Suggesto GDPR compliant?

Suggesto implements Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks, so a shopper's data can be exported or erased on request and a shop's data is removed when it asks. Our privacy policy sets out what we process on your behalf and which sub-processors are involved. Compliance for your store as a whole is still yours, since it depends on what else you collect and where you operate.

Does Suggesto send my products to an AI provider?

Only when you start an AI run. Drafting a quiz or auto-tagging sends product titles, descriptions, types, vendors and existing tags, plus your own store description, to our AI provider. Shopper answers and captured emails are never sent to it.

What happens if I uninstall?

Your quizzes stop serving immediately and your data is retained briefly in case you reinstall, then removed. Suggesto also honours Shopify's data request, customer redaction and shop redaction webhooks.
